Adjustment

We are heading into our third night in Kenya. Adjustment is an understatement. Our internal time clocks are reversed. We are hungry at the wrong times. We are learning slowly about life here. Today, Elijah and I headed out with a group from the guesthouse onto the street in Nairobi. What met us were all kinds of smells, noises, and visuals you will never get in Canada. We walked by an open market, by matatu (small vans that pack a pile of people in them they have driver and another person negotiating prices and getting people on board), we crossed the street (sounds like that is not a big deal) but everything is when you are trying for the first time. You have to look for vehicles the opposite way because Kenyans drive on the left. Also, pedestrains don't have right of way drivers do and they will use it. All of this will take getting used to. It was a bit shocking for me too when I stuck my cards in about different bank machines and none of them would take my card. Finally, I found a bank machine that accepted my cards. Everything it seems is going to take time. It is going to take time to figure out a way to live here. We are very thankful for Mayfield and all the staff here. We are having a very enjoyable stay here. That's about it for now. Thanks again for all your prayers and support. We really need them right now as we deal with the initial learning stages of living here.

Here are a few pics at Mayfield. We played football with some boys yesterday their parents work here.

Here is a picture from the front of the house. And then the third one is of Grace standing in a grassy area. Apparently, there is not alot of grass in Mombasa so we just need to enjoy that here.
