football FRIDAY

Today, we spent the day learning about a world religion. The days are generally quite long 8:30-5. For all my Briercrest Seminary friends just imagine a 3 week modular that still meets on Saturday’s and has ministry assignments on Sunday’s.

The exciting part of the day today was going and playing football soccer with some teenage Kenyan boys team. They practice on a dirt/sand/grass field just outside of the Scott compound. We had a ton a fun. The boys were very good and there coach was there too. He refed the match. Basically, the Kenyans controlled the match the entire time they would cycle the ball down one side of the field and if they were unsuccessful at a goal they would reverse it back down the field and then go up the other side tiring us poor muzungu’s out! It was a beautiful setting to play in with the African scenery all around. All kinds of people watching on the side as these helpless foreigners tried to play the Kenyans. Actually, we had a couple Brazilians on our team that were both good! After the match the coach pulled us all together and we said a short prayer and shook hands. Then it was time for lunch. The kids seem to be adjusting better each day. Please pray the eat a bit more. The food is good but different than home so it just takes adjustment.
