Welcome to Mombasa

Amie's folks arrived here over a week ago and were were all very happy to see them. We arrived at the airport just as they were arriving off the plane. Perfect timing! Here we are after church on Sunday at the Voyageur Hotel for lunch a dip in the swimming pool and then some time on the beach!

Since their arrival we have been hanging out at home living out normal life which includes teaching at Pwani and homeschooling the kids for Amie then in the afternoons going out and seeing some of the sights in Mombasa.

After an afternoon of teaching we headed out to Haller Park. A great place that has Giraffes, Hippos, crocodiles, and giant tortoises! It's a beautiful walk and offers much shade which is important these days when the heat has been intense!

We had the chance to feed Giraffes together and as we arrived a bit late most of the people were gone so it was just us and the Giraffes! Very cool!

The tortoises are very friendly. Many of them had been family pets for generations before they were given to Haller Park. They live well over 100 years old. It was such a hot and busy day Ian fell right asleep on Amie's back!

One cannot come to Mombasa and not experience riding in a Tuk Tuk. (In mombasa we say it "took took"). So, we had our driver John come with a friend so we had a little convey that took us up to a great place for Ice Cream on the beach called Yules.

We also had some camel rides on the Indian Ocean! Hang on guys! It's quite the ordeal to get that camel to stand up thought Paul was going to fall forward right over Elijah! (Notice the camel he is wearing a Manchester United scarf!)
