Good bye Machakos

We are done the first phase of orientation! Hurrah!! Now into phase two language training. We are working through a 6 day course called Language Acquisition Made Practical here in Nairobi. We are enjoying our facilitator for the course and also our language helpers. Each individual in the class is partnered with a Kenyan language helper for one on one work. Amie's helper is named Joy and my helper is named Daniel. We are getting along great with both of them!

We left Machakos a few days ago and enjoyed it there but were happy to be done orientation. It is a beautiful area of Kenya. On our drive back to Nairobi we were spotting gazelle and zebra's just off the road. Amazing! It felt so natural to see them on the side of the road kind of like just seeing deer and coyotes in the prairies. The road kill zebra on the side of the road added to that feeling!

We learned a lot in our three weeks and all and all I think it was a good entry for us into Africa. It was slightly insulated but still allowed for us to feel, taste, and experience Kenya. We ate Kenyan food every day, we were out in the town or on the street at the vendors, and we worshiped with 3 different churches in the area all with very different worship styles.

We concluded our time at ABO with a fun night. There is one picture below of the laughing that went on. Now we have separated from most of our ABO friends and they are preparing to go to different parts of Africa. We are still with a few friends each day at LAMP who will be serving in Eastern Region.
