Nairobi

We are in Nairobi right now doing language training. We are learning so much and have great language helpers who are young people living in Nairobi. More on them to come in a later post. On our day off this past weekend we went out and visited an elephant orphanage and also the giraffe center. It was quite a little adventure for the Chalmers family! We had a great taxi driver who made sure we were early to the baby elephant viewing. Because as you can see many people from all over the world come and see these babies everyday! We happened to start a conversation with the woman beside us as we waited for the elephants and we found out she was from Israel! Amazing how the world meets in the big cities whether you are in the U.S. or Africa the big cities of the world seem to have more and more in common with each other.

We had great fun at the elephant orphanage and enjoyed watching these babies suck back their bottles in no time!

The giraffe center was a lot of fun too. The kids all fed giraffes and were able to pet them. Amazing standing eye to eye with a giraffe!

Afterwards, we sat down for a drink in the tea room area of the giraffe center. Fanta soda has become the kids new favorite drink in Kenya!
