Language Training

This is my friend Daniel. He lives in Nairobi and he was my language helper over the past week. Yesterday, we parted ways and it was a bit sad to say goodbye. Each afternoon we have spent time in class learning from our facilitator Carla and then we would go out into the market and practice. After the market experience our language helpers would come and work with each of us one on one. Daniel is a very energetic individual and was perfect fit for me. In his words, "I am a brother from another mother!" He pushed me hard on my swahili and encouraged me every step of the way. His favorite line was that he thinks I have a 'razor sharp mind!' I will miss my afternoon sessions with him. But, hopefully we will be able to catch up again sometime as we live here in Kenya.

We are far far from fluent but it was a good kick start into our language training we will do in Mombasa. And the method we learned is very practical but is also concerned with proper grammar and all the rules of language.

Amie's language helpers name was Joy. She is standing behind Amie in the group picture we had after we finished the course. Now we all part ways. Our friends from Brazil go to Northern Kenya to work with a tribe there. And other friend at Language training is on her way to Dar tomorrow. So, now we have parted ways with all of our ABO friends.
