Back to Jaribuni (Homestay Part 2)

Some of you may have read earlier about my visit to Jaribuni and Pastor Joshua.  The blind pastor serving in a very difficult and hard to reach area.  Since Isaac is very keen on meeting these pastors who serve in difficult locations we took a trip together with our families to Jaribuni to check in on Pastor Joshua and bring some supplies and food.  Last time I took matatu's and piki piki's to reach Jaribuni this time we each drove our cars.  It was quicker and less eventful but still very very bumpy and slow going at places.

Pictures don't do justice to those stones covering the road!  We were very thankful for our RAV4 which handled the bounces and gave us a bit more clearance to maneuver over the rocks.  There were a few sections that had rocks like this and one difficult uphill section that we had to cover.  As you can see Isaac drives a smaller station wagon but he didn't seem to mind at all even though there were times he was definitely bottoming out his car on the rocks.  He had a great attitude!

It was a beautiful drive nonetheless.  The picture of this stream is only a few km's away from where Pastor Joshua lives.

The more we do these visits I am learning the value of stories.  The story of each person's life is incredibly important.  Before we discusses issues of ministry and needs we always seem to find ourselves gathered in a circle and are directed to speak of who we are where we come from and the journey God has brought us on.  Because Pastor Joshua had met me before this storying was left up to Isaac and Pastor Joshua this time as a grounds to get to know one another.

In the above picture you can see Amabilis leaning over Pastor as he writes using a device that allows him to pierce the paper creating braille he can read.  Also, you will notice if you read the previous post that there has been no new construction done on the church Pastor is trying to have constructed.  His needs have been great and the struggle has just been getting by day to day.  Please pray that in God's timing and way this church will be built.

We stayed for a few hours and enjoyed our time sharing, reading the word, and praying.  I was especially glad the kids had the opportunity to come out and meet Pastor Joshua and see life outside of the city.  Please continue to keep this ministry that Pastor has in your prayers.
